With love and deep sorrow, we share that our beloved mother, June I. Morissette, of Providence, Rhode Island, died on March 26, 2026, at the age of 81.
June was the wife of the late Claude Morissette. June and Claude met at Cranston Bowl, an ordinary moment that became the beginning of a lifetime of love and family.
She is survived by her three children, Thomas Morissette, Michelle Gomes (Joaquim (Jack)), and Christine Morissette. Her family brought her immense pride and joy. She was especially dedicated to her seven grandchildren, Briana, David, Michael, Jacquelyn, Steven, Claudia, and Logan, and her two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Nicholas.
June’s life centered around family, friends, and showing up for people. She cared deeply for those around her and expressed that love through action, stepping in wherever she was needed. She was a crossing guard for the City of Providence for many years. Throughout her life, she also worked as a bank teller, daycare provider, and caregiver for older adults.
She was always a regular somewhere; while the coffee shop changed over the years, the routine did not. You could find her among friends and community, coffee in hand, catching up and sharing a laugh. When asked if she needed anything, she would smile and reply, “A stack of 20s.”
Born and raised in Providence, she was the daughter of the late V. Irene and L. Earl Pelrine. She was predeceased by her sisters, Evelyn, Betty, Isabel, Louise, and Jane, and by her brothers, Raymond and Peter. She is survived by her brother, Lawrence.
June’s Visitation will be held Monday, April 6, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Funeral and Cremation Service, 168 Academy Ave, Providence. Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 9 a.m. from the Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St., Providence. Burial will take place at St Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
