Obituary of Audrey Collins
Early this morning, February 7, 2025, and dressed in her finest "Old Hippy" clothing, Audrey S Cuevas (Sandy), 70, hopped on the flower power bus to Heaven. She had affirmed to Chaplain Sam and Marilyn, as they said prayers and blessings with us, I know God is with me. I know God is helping me.
Mother to Ashley Cuevas and sister to Rita Casady and Marlene Cuevas, Sandy was the loving aunt to Chip Kennedy, Sean Kennedy, Charity Lozeau, Derek Fanning, and Kim Kennedy. She also had many great nieces and nephews who will attest that she was the most fun ever, especially at corn mazes and parties. She will be missed by many who really enjoyed her company, including Felicia Andrews, Nikole Kennedy, Cait Marley, and Aaron Fanning. One of her great Greats will always miss his Aunti Apple.
Sandi is survived by
her Granddog Scout, who also loved spending time with her. Her heart was open to all animals, especially cats like her fur baby, "Scotch," who brought so much comfort to her. But Sandi also knew she would reunite with her beloved Patchouli as soon as she crossed over The Old Hippie Bridge into the beautiful colors of Heaven.
Sandy was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, Audrey and Albert Cuevas, and brother-in-law, Paul Casady.
Her vibrant personality, quick wit and humor, and incredible voice will be missed by friends and family throughout the world, including lifelong friends Sandra Sterling, Earl "Cal" Collins, and Annette Worley.
Sandi will be remembered not as the Life Of The Party, but "The Party". No stranger to a microphone, Sandi started entertaining friends and family as a toddler, graduating to clubs and talent shows and singing with her beloved band, Back Street Trolley. Her appreciation for music spanned multiple genres, which allowed her to exhibit her talent and range with memorable diverse performances of songs like "Crazy", "Coat of Many Colors" and one of Dad's favorites, "Don't Cry For Me Argentina". She could take your breath away with "Ave Maria".
Sandi worked mainly in the service industry, bartending at JP's, as the Dining Services Manager at Foxwood Boulder Hills, and at the Deli counter at Dave's Market Place.
Sandi battled through three bouts of cancer, but just could not overcome this relapse. She fought hard and always had hope. She was a strong woman, enduring rheumatoid arthritis all throughout her life. This strength helped her to get through many hardships.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kurshid and the staff at the Life Span Cancer Institute, Nurse Sarah and CNA Tina, the staff from Hope Hospice, and the many friends and family who helped Sandi through this difficult year. A Celebration of her Life will be held in late Spring. Sandi asked once, "How will I be remembered? We hope you will take the time to share a thought or a memory. There's an old hippie up in Heaven tonight, smiling down on us, finally at peace. Services are private and held at the convenience of the family.
