My sister Ann took me to my first broadway play. We went to many plays together. We also used to go skiing in Vermont. Ann was explaining some ski terms with me before skiing. Then we were skiing and I was in front of her and she yelled out “watch out for the creek, I yelled back what’s a creek? She said “ a creek is a creek and I hit the creek and they carried me off on an emergency sled. I broke my hand and damaged my foot. We used to go a lot of places together. We even spent many New Year’s Eve at ski resorts. What a great time we had. I have great memories of her generosity. When Ann received her tax return, she always sent me money. When she found out that my husband Kenny has colon cancer, she sent me $100 dollars and told me to take Kenny to his favorite restaurant. Ann was always so kind to me. I will always remember what good times we shared.

Ann was my cousin and my best friend. I will miss our long conversations, her silly jokes and family stories. Ann lived alone but she was never lonely. As long as she had a book, a paint brush or a pencil she was happy. Rest in peace Ann. I love you.

Ann and I had a special friendship. It started by texting each other in Italian for practice and then grew into book discussion. Then it became sending each other books that we liked. I will miss our correspondence and will always remember your stories.

I have many fond memories of my Aunt Ann over the years, including receiving newspaper clippings when I was a kid in the mail from her, related to books and colleges, with her little notes written in the margins. She was always such an avid supporter of my literary and academic pursuits. I greatly enjoyed pen-paling with her these past several years, many of her letters enclosing old family pictures and even one of me and her when I was a baby, in which she cited my son to look just like me. One of her watercolor paintings sits on our bookshelf. She remains remembered and loved.
