In Loving Memory of Ronnie “Sammy” Walker

Ronnie “Sammy” Walker, born on July 3, 1963, passed away on March 22, 2025, at the age of 61. He leaves behind a loving family and countless friends who will miss him dearly.

Sammy is survived by his siblings: Doreen, Donna, Darleen, and Dwayne Walker. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joyce Elaine and Rollie Gene Walker, and daughter, Shontay Taylor.

He is also lovingly remembered by his children: Dominique Scholl, Shayla Corrier, twin sons Gary and Anthony Ross, and Durell Walker. His legacy continues through his twelve grandchildren: Jazanique and Heluska Scholl, Robert, Tyler, and Quincy Robinson, Anthony Jr., Huntley, Serenity Charles, Jinzell Coffield, Joziyah Coffield, Nayile Rita Marie, Nakia’s Coffield, and Novah Coffield. Additionally, he leaves behind two cherished great-granddaughters, Soulene Robinson and Hevenlee Scholl.

For the past six to seven years, Sammy dedicated his time volunteering at the Amos House in Providence. Ms. Stephanie and many others at the Amos House admired him for his growth and unwavering commitment to the organization. Everyday, Sammy prepared and served breakfast and lunch to community members, taking joy in providing meals and offering a helping hand.

Though life presented its challenges, Sammy’s resilience and determination always shone through. His pride in his independence was evident — having his own apartment and car brought him great joy. One of his greatest passions was boxing. He found fulfillment in mentoring youth at the Davey Lopes and Joslin Recreation Centers, guiding and inspiring the next generation. He was especially proud when his grandchildren could join him, sharing his love for the sport.

Sammy’s kindness, dedication, and warmth will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a man surrounded by love, and his memory will continue to inspire and bring comfort to his family and friends.

A celebration of Sammy’s life will be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 10am. Family and friends are welcome to join in remembering and honoring his beautiful spirit.
