Lloyd “Butch” Richard Carignan (1945 – 2025)
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Lloyd Richard Carignan, fondly known as Butch, who passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, at home in Warwick, RI.
Born on March 8, 1945, in Warwick, RI, to James and Mary Carignan, Butch was a hardworking man who dedicated himself to providing for his family. After high school, he joined the Army National Guard before beginning a lifelong career in construction.
He loved his boys and enjoyed playing baseball in the backyard and coaching youth soccer, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever. Though his exterior was tough, his heart was full of warmth—especially for those who called him “Papa.” His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and their love brought out the gentlest side of him.
Each of us will miss his tradition of calling to sing "Happy Birthday," a simple gesture that always brought a smile.
Butch is survived by his wife, Kathryn Carignan; his sons and their spouses, Peter and Emily, and Daniel and Michele; his stepson and spouse, Charles and Tricia Klausen; his four grandchildren, Daniel, Benjamin, Hope, and Coleman; his sister, Janice Lyons; and his niece, Lori Strycharz.
In accordance with his wishes, services will be private.
Butch will forever be loved and remembered in our hearts.
