Vincent “Papa” DiStefano, 85, of Johnston, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at Hope Hospice in Providence, surrounded by his loving family after a 4-year battle with cancer. Born in Providence, RI, he was the devoted husband of Patricia (Payette) DiStefano and loving brother-in-law of Eileen Payette of Johnston, RI. He was the most loving father, husband, and friend anyone could have asked for. He leaves behind two loving daughters: Suzanne McNally (Joe) of Johnston and Rhonda Hanaway (John) of Wakefield. He was a proud grandfather to Paul Vincent McNally, Ryan Hanaway (Mallory), and Brendan Hanaway, and many nieces and nephews. His grandsons were the light of his life, and he taught them many lessons they will carry with them forever. He was the cherished son of the late Alberto and Vincenza (Starnino) DiStefano. He was the beloved brother of the late Albert “Zeko” DiStefano (Shirley) and the late Carmin DiStefano. As a graduate of RISD, Vincent had a long and accomplished career. He worked at Alice Jewelry, A & Z Hayward, and retired from A & H Manufacturing in Johnston, RI. He was also an entrepreneur and managed his own jewelry company for many years, “Sue-Ron Sales”, named after his daughters. He was also a proud contributor to innovation, as one of the founders of the tool used for piercings; created a chiropractic tool for a local doctor; he was the President of the Rhody Ristpins Classic Car Club, and influential in the local Lions Club. Whether surrounded by his family, animals, and classic cars — three of his greatest loves — “Papa” could always be found bringing comfort, joy, and a warm smile. His quiet strength, gentle spirit, and enduring love left a deep impression on all who knew him. There will be a Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church, 4 Lafayette St, Johnston, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 11am to celebrate his beautiful life. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vincent’s memory may be made to the RISPCA. For further information and condolences, please visit MOUNTPLEASANTFH.COM.
