Robert Stephen Gorton Obituary

Robert (Bobby) Stephen Gorton passed away on 07/21/2025 in Albemarle, North Carolina, where he had retired to escape the cold winters of New England. He leaves behind his two daughters, Heather Gorton and Alexis Gorton-Rogel, her husband, Franklin Rogel, stepchildren, Keri Geyer and Heather Laplume, her husband, Joe Laplume, and the "daughter he never wanted," Lori Capuano. As well as his grandchildren, Rennee Frink, Daniel Hayward, Audrey Hassett, Kayla-Rose O'Donnell, TJ Annotti, Brianna Geyer, and Jaydon Geyer. Bobby believed strangers were just friends he hadn't met yet, and was loved by many, including friends, brothers, and sisters (both blood-related and foster), nieces, nephews, and foster family. He held each one close to his heart.

After serving numerous years as a civilian worker for the City of Providence in the detail office, as well as the domestic violence program, he retired from the city as an Animal Control Officer. He was an avid volunteer with programs such as the "Concerned Citizens of the North End" and gave back to the community by planting trees and teaching bicycle safety with the Rhode Island Safe Kids Coalition.  He had a big heart and a love for animals (especially dogs). His sarcasm and sense of humor will be carried on by his daughters, and he will continue to be loved and greatly missed by those who knew him.

Bobby's visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 5pm to 7pm at the Mount Pleasant Funeral and Cremation Service, 168 Academy Ave, Providence. For further information and condolences, please visit MOUNTPLEASANTFH.COM.
