John A. Walmsley, 72, of Warren, RI, passed away December 7, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Providence, RI, John was the son of the late Alfred Walmsley and Mary P. (Drolet) Walmsley. John was an auto enthusiast and spent his life as an auto mechanic, as well as restoring antique automobiles. He previously operated his own auto repair shop in Cranston, RI, and last worked for Dick Shappy at Classic Restorations in Providence before retiring in 2019. He enjoyed building and collecting model cars and going to auto swap meets. He collected coins for many years and enjoyed hours of metal detecting at sites in Warren and Bristol. He is survived by siblings Thomas Walmsley of Buena Park, CA, Margaret Kelloway of Attleboro, MA, David Walmsley of Warren, RI, and Jane Moore of New Bedford, MA.
