Regina (Dolly) Frances (Stachowiak) Miga, 91, passed away at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, on Sunday, February 16, 2020. She was the wife of the late Peter Miga and sister of the late Helen Pietruszka. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Charles and Stephanie (Miklosz) Stachowiak, she was a lifelong resident of Providence. Regina was a high school English teacher employed by the town of North Providence for 30 years before retiring 25 years ago. Dolly enjoyed her family, especially her great granddaughters that gave her strength these last few years. She also enjoyed traveling to Cape Cod, Matunuck, New Hampshire, and Sanibel, FL. She loved to be around the water enjoying walks on the beach, boat rides, and visiting light houses. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, needlework, shopping, and playing bingo. She was a communicant of St. Adalbert’s Church and a member of RI Federation of Teacher’s union. In past years, she was an active member of the parish school board and parish counsel. She was a devoted mother to her son, Peter and wife Christine, her daughter, Paula Chorney and her husband Bruce. Loving grandmother to Laura Galego and her husband Ryan, Benjamin Miga and his wife Amanda, and Brett Miga and his wife Lisa. Regina was the great grandmother of Charlotte Galego, Lenora Miga, Eve Miga and the aunt of Joseph Pietruszka and his wife Grace. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 am from the Mount Pleasant Funeral Home, 168 Academy Ave., Providence with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Adalbert Church, Atwells Ave. at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5pm to 7pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Adalbert’s Church, 866 Atwells Ave., Providence, 02909.
