Prokopowicz, “ Poke”, 48, of East Providence, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020 at his home after battling pancreatic cancer. He was the son of Dolores (Chrabaszcz) Prokopowicz-Lombardi and the late A. John Prokopowicz. Born in Providence, he had lived in East Providence for the last 15 years. John was a self-employed carpenter for 30 years. He enjoyed going to Sabin Point Park and watching the sunset and was an avid Yankees fan. Poke was a member of Bishop Hickey Knights of Columbus and President of the Columbus Club of Barrington. Besides his mother John is survived by his daughter, Alexandra V. Prokopowicz, his sisters, Kimberley A. Poirier and her husband Kevin and Alison J. Prokopowicz, his stepfather Robert Lombardi, and his niece Kaleigh R. Poirier. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial in St. Brendan’s Church, 60 Turner Ave., Riverside, March 5, 2020 at 11AM. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Home (Formerly Hoey Funeral Home) 168 Academy Ave., Providence from 4PM to 7PM. Burial will be private.
