Robert H. Williams "Duffy", 91, of Lincoln, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at the Silver Creek Nursing Home, Bristol, RI. Born in Lincoln, RI, Robert was the son to the late Nathaniel C. Williams Sr. and Lilly (Wilkinson) Gilmore. Robert was the husband of the late Albertine E. (Erdmann) Williams for 49 years. Robert was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army, where he served in Germany during the Korean War. He met his wife while stationed in Germany. Robert worked in construction for the R.I. Laborers Union and Cranston Print Works before retirement. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Fairlawn Fire Department for 50 years, eventually becoming Chief. He liked to tell stories about his work on the fire department in which he saved lives. He often brought his Dalmatian Sparky to work with him. Robert also loved to travel to Germany to visit his wife's family, especially during Christmas time. He was proud to order his first Mercedes Benz directly from the factory in Stuttgart and to have it shipped to the states. Robert leaves his sister Cynthia Swanson of Redding, California, and several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Avis Wild, Alice Tardiff, Nathaniel C Williams Jr, Everett Williams, and Ellen Whitted. Robert was a very gentle, loving, and giving man and was very appreciative and grateful for the staff at Silver Creek Manor, Beacon Hospice, and Veterans Hospital. Burial with military honors will be private. For further information and condolences, please visit mountpleasantfh.com.
