Darlene Rene “Nana” Williams, age 60, was born on November 8, 1960, in Waterbury, Connecticut. The daughter of Myrtle Virginia Hill moved to Providence, Rhode Island, in 1963, where she attended Mount Pleasant High School and ran track. In 1987, she married the late Austin Williams III, where the two birthed three children. In 1993, she moved to Elmira NY, where she retired from the Chemung County Nursing Facility, after working there for over 15yrs. Darlene was diligent, animated, and a strong-minded woman that enjoyed life. She was very outgoing, outspoken, and had a great personality. Darlene, at times, was very stubborn and reserved; however, her cheerfulness and comical personality left a never-ending effect on the people around her, especially those she loved. Darlene enjoyed having fun, going to bingo, and being around her family and friends. Darlene’s favorite color was red and hunter green. Darlene had a big heart and was always willing to give and lend a helping hand. She enjoyed cooking and having sleepovers with her grandchildren. Darlene loved all of her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with each of them. She was family-oriented and loved her family very much, especially her mother and her children. Everything she did in life, she did for them. Darlene passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2020. She leaves to celebrate her life, her mother Myrtle Hill; children Lawrence Williams, Austinishia (Kervin) Driscoll, & Kendall Williams; grandchildren Zakariah, Zhyajah, Zhanijah, Zhyaire, & Z’lana Driscoll; Lah’Rell, Lawrence Jr., & Najeer Williams, and Kamila Williams; siblings John Toney Jr., & Rudy Mitchell; nieces Johnesha Toney and Tasha Washington; nephew John Toney III; sister/cousin Diane Johnson; special friend “gramps” Howard Coleman; five aunts, nine uncles, and a host of cousins and friends.
