Obituary of Michael Anthony Evangelista

Michael Anthony Evangelista, 74, of 555 Veazie Street, Providence, Rhode Island, died Saturday, December 19th, 2020, after a 4-week battle with COVID-19. Michael was born in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Americo Michael Evangelista and Regina Vera (Sanzi) Evangelista. Michael was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Michael received several medals for his time stationed in Tuy Hòa, Vietnam from 1966-1967. After his time in the military, Michael was a Renaissance Man throughout the rest of his life. Michael was a carpenter and a painter, but his true passion was cooking. Michael ran “The Mad Gourmet” catering service for over 20 years. Michael is survived by his two daughters Lisa and Lauren Evangelista. Michael was the brother of SGM (R) Daniel J. Evangelista and MSG (R) Robert F. Evangelista. Uncle to Zachariah and Nigel Evangelista and Grandfather to Jordan Evangelista. As a result of the pandemic, there will be a private funeral. The family hopes to hold a celebration of Michael’s life in late 2021.
