Obituary of Anne Keating Corkery
Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anne K. Corkery, 84, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, Anne was the daughter of the late J. Albert Corkery and Anne E. (Ryan) Corkery and moved to Rhode Island in 1950. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and the University of Rhode Island Insurance Certification School in 1968.
Anne was a member of the National Association of Insurance Women and worked in the insurance industry for 51 years. She began her career at E.L. Watson Co., where she worked for 25 years until the agency was purchased by Burns & Cotter, Inc., where she was a dedicated employee for an additional 26 years. When she retired in 2005, she was honored by Burns & Cotter with a large gathering of family, friends, insurance associates, and clients of the agency. She treasured her time at Burns & Cotter and was very grateful for that honor.
Anne was passionate about volunteering and helping others. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church, where she served on many charity drives, she was the secretary for the Bishop's Campaign, and she was a Girl Scout Leader for ten years. Anne was also a regular volunteer at the Rhode Island Blood Center and the Players Theater in Providence and spent decades caring for elderly friends and neighbors. She was known for being thoughtful, loving, and dependable, and countless people benefitted from her kind spirit and generosity.
Above all else, Anne loved her family. She is survived by her sister Marie Troy of Rumford, RI, her brother Neil Corkery and his wife Maureen (Mullaney) Corkery of Wickford, RI, niece Julia Troy, of Cambridge, MA, nephew Michael Corkery of North Kingston, RI and nephew Eamon Corkery and his fiance, Emily Yorston of Warwick, RI. She was also the aunt of the late Christopher Corkery. There will be a private burial, followed by a celebration of life when it's safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to organizations dedicated to helping people through this difficult time including the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, or a charity of your choice.
Facial masks are required and social distancing will be observed. For further information and condolences please visit mountpleasantfh.com.
