Obituary of Rachel R. Emerson

Rachel Rolande Emerson, 95, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021. Born in Providence, Rachel was the daughter of the late Leon and Eugenie (Laliberte) Morin. She was the loving wife of the late Robert E. Emerson. Sr. She was also an extraordinary mother to her surviving sons Robert E. Emerson, Jr., Richard J. Emerson, Paul S. Emerson, and daughters Diane Such, Mary Emerson Baker. She was the mother of the late Thomas M. Emerson, David P. Emerson, and the sister of the late Jean-Paul Morin. She is also survived by 10 Grandchildren. Rachel loved her family and friends well. With a wonderful sense of humor and a kind and generous spirit, she was always helping others in any way she could. Widowed at 57, she sought education and then employment at the Providence School Department to support her family. She was very involved with her church, volunteering frequently, spent several years as a Eucharistic Minister at Rhode Island and Miriam Hospitals, and then drove her friends to their doctor appointments until she was 91. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 27th, at 10:00, am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave, Johnston, RI. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 26th, in the Mount Pleasant Funeral Home, 168 Academy Avenue, Providence, RI, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
