Raymond Roy Obituary
Raymond E. Roy, 91, of Providence, passed away peacefully Friday, April 17, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Dora (DiStefano) Roy.They were happily married for 60 years. A lifetime resident of Providence, he was the son of the late Elzear and Blanche (Cormier) Roy. Mr. Roy was a World War II army veteran. He was a POW and a recipient of the Purple Heart. Sgt. Roy served his country proudly and with honor. He was a foreman in the wire and cable industry for many years. He is survived by his children, Barbara Bagley and her husband Thomas, Raymond Roy and his wife Linda, Richard Roy and his wife Pamela; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Bagley, Daniel, and Matthew Roy, and Laurel Murphy; his great granddaughter, Laila Murphy; his brother, Russell Roy, and his son-in-law, Donald Bockoven. He was the father of the late Judy Roy and the brother of the late Gloria Flanagan.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 10am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 901 Atwells Avenue, Providence. Burial with military honors will be in RI Veteran’s Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Church Memorial Fund, would be appreciated. Arrangements by Hoey-Arpin-Williams-King Funeral Home, Providence.
