Obituary of Shirley Anne Mangum
Shirley Anne Mangum (Tina) passed away and was called home to rest on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at home at the age of 82.
She was born on September 1, 1939, in Wake County, North Carolina. She currently resided at 1155 Douglas Avenue, Providence, RI. She was the daughter of the late Percy Mangum and the late Evelina (King) Mangum, and the wife of the late William Spencer Smith.
She worked at the Bannister House Nursing Home and the Parkview Center Hospital and Medical Center Nursing Home until retiring 13 years ago. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and going to Bally’s Casino with her grandson, and doing her crossword puzzles.
She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories her five children, Charlene Mangum of Georgia, James Mangum of Florida, Spencer Mangum, Trudi Mangum, and Tyrone Mangum, all of Providence, RI. Twenty-two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late James Edward Harris Mangum and Percy Mangum, Jr., along with a host of family and friends.
Shirley was indeed a very special woman who was loved and gave love and will truly be missed. She always had time to listen to people and would welcome you in. She touched the lives of all that knew
her with her words of wisdom. She was a good-hearted, kind, and loving mother and friend.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Home, 168 Academy Avenue, Providence, from 10:00am - 11:30am, followed by a service at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Swan Point Cemetery.
