Frances G. “Franz” O’Donnell,, 91. Wife of the late Joseph O’Donnell, Jr. A 10 year resident of Yorktown, VA. Formerly from the Mt. Pleasant section of Providence. Survived by her daughters, Susan Nolin and her husband David from Cranston, Deborah Harrington and her husband Arthur from North Scituate, Mary Ellen Varney from Yorktown, VA and Sharon Golding from Providence. Also surviving are her 4 grandchildren, Christine Laford and her husband Charlie from Winchendon, MA, Scott Varney and his wife Kelly from Williamsburg, VA, Arthur Harrington of Scituate and Matthew Golding of Providence and her 7 great grandchildren, Evan, Dylan, Jordan and Brandon Varney of Williamsburg, VA, Joseph and Lyanna Laford of Winchendon, MA and Mattie Golding of Providence. “Franz” also had 7 fur baby grandchildren, Lucy, Oscar, Ivy, Arya, Kona, Melvin and Astra. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Colonial Harbor where she lived for eight and a half years and also the staff at St. Francis Nursing Center where she received the best care for the last year and a half. She absolutely loved both of these places. She loved needlework, baking, gardening and traveling. While in Virginia she was part of a group of volunteers who knit caps for newborns at Mary Immaculate Hospital. She was also involved in a quilting fundraiser while she was a resident of Colonial Harbor. She was a great Seamstress, toiling away before Christmas to make sure all of our dolls had clothes. Mom will be greatly missed, but it gives us great comfort that she is now surrounded by all of her favorite people that went before her, especially Dad. The funeral will be held Monday, January 4, 2016 at 9 AM from the HOEY-ARPIN-WILLIAMS-KING Funeral Home, 168 Academy Ave., Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Ave. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours, Sunday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Foundation.
