John M. Loftus,59, of Providence, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, peacefully at home. He was born in Providence, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Mann) Loftus. John was the beloved husband of Karen (Lightowler) Loftus. He worked at Peacedale House doing maintenance for 13 years and later worked for Whole Foods Market in maintenance for four years. Having to leave due to his battle with Leukemia. John leaves behind his son Eric Loftus and his wife, Ashlee, and a daughter Emily Loftus, both of Providence. He also leaves a beloved nephew Stephen DiChiaro of Johnston.

John fought the brave fight of AML for the past year, undergoing a Bone Marrow Transplant that unfortunately did not take. Although, he was a trooper throughout this whole ordeal and stayed strong for his family. He sadly lost the battle and will truly be missed.

Besides his wife and children, John also leaves his sister Mary Ann DiChiaro of Warwick, and three brothers, Joseph Loftus and his wife Kathy of Cranston, James Loftus of Providence, and William Loftus and his wife Margaret of Auburn, Massachusetts. Also leaving several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

His funeral will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 10am in the Mount Pleasant Funeral Home, 168 Academy Avenue, Providence. A visitation will be held from 9am to 10am prior to the service.
