MCLELLAND, Claire Elaine of Cranston, RI, formerly of Canton, MA, passed away

peacefully surrounded by family on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 16th. She was

93 years old. Daughter of the late Carl and Edith Viden of Braintree, MA. Beloved

wife of 56 wonderful years to the late David G. McLelland. Loving mother of Lisa

McLelland and partner Mike Grady of Cranston, RI, Stephen McLelland, and

his wife Gina of Reading, MA. Loving grandmother of Taylor and her fiancé AJ,

and Matthew and his fiancée Nina. Claire is also survived by her dear sister, Carol

Townsend of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, and dear cousin Muriel Garrison of Sandwich

MA. She was predeceased by siblings Jean Evans of Ledyard, CT, and C. Allan

Viden of Hingham, MA. Claire had a deep passion for family, cooking, nature,

birds, a healthy diet, yoga, the color purple, maple walnut ice cream, Boston

sports teams, UConn women's basketball, and her daily Boston Globe. She will

be terribly missed by family and friends who will cherish memories of the time

they spent with her. At Claire’s request, services will be private. A Celebration of

Life will be held later this summer.
