Richard W. Caouette, Sr., 66, died Saturday, February 8, 2014 at RI Hospital. He was the husband of Joan (Farland) Caouette. He was the son of Madeline (Brule) Caouette and the late Henri Caouette. Besides his wife he leaves his sons Richard W. Jr. and Robert Caouette Sr.; his daughters Robyn Carvalho, Katherine and Mara Caouette,; his sister Laureene Szczesz and eight grandchildren Britney, Bobby Jr., Breala, Karissa, Kendra, Hannah, Kali, and Nicholas. Mr. Caouette was a Navy veteran serving from 1966 to 1969. He worked for the US Postal service for 32 years before retiring as the superintendent of postal operations in North Attleboro and Westport, MA. He had many interests. He was former Rehoboth Lions Club member and CCD teacher at Mt. Carmel Church. He was a US Pony Club volunteer, an avid thoroughbred horse racing fan, a martial arts student, practicing Tai Chi and also enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, and camping. Richard also loved animals, especially his dog Sam. His funeral will be held Thursday at 9AM from the Hoey-Arpin-Williams-King Funeral Home, 168 Academy Avenue, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Adalbert’s Church, Atwells Avenue Providence. Burial with full military honors will held at RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-8PM. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Adalbert's Church, 866 Atwells Ave., Providence, RI 02909.
