Obituary of Richard Joseph Stepinski
Richard J. Stepinski passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 22,
2024. Born in Szczuczyn, Poland, he was the oldest child of Boleslaw
and Leokadia (Ekstowicz) Stepinski.
Richard emigrated to the United States with his family in 1960 at the
age of 10. As the oldest, he took care of his siblings while his parents
had to work. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1969 and then
attended Roger Williams University. Richard worked hard all his life, no
matter what the job was. He spent his career working in the jewelry
industry. He worked at Monet Jewelers, Camille's Jewelry, Fernando
Originals, and others.
He was exceptionally talented in many things. We all knew him as the
family's master plumber, carpenter, builder, mover, roofer, mechanic,
and electrician. All self taught. If he could not solve a problem right
away, he would always figure out how to fix it. He was always ready and
willing to help anyone in need.
Richard was a Sunday Collector at St. Adalbert's Church in
Providence, and a faithful communicant. He enjoyed coffee get
togethers with his friends, and he always liked to share jokes and
stories. He loved living in the house that he built for his family in the
woods of Scituate, as well as talking to his neighbors on walks with his
grand pug, Bashy.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Jolanta Stepinski, whom he
was married to for 51 happy years. He is also survived by his son and
daughter in law, Alexander and Katarzyna Stepinski, as well as his
daughter and son in law, Alyssa and Justin Sharkey. Also, he leaves
behind his beloved grandson, Adam Stepinski.
In addition, he is survived by his sister, Halina Gruszka, his
sister, Maryann Lozinski, and her husband, Andrew Lozinski. He was also
the brother of the late Charles Stepinski.
Richards's funeral will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 9 a.m. from the Mount Pleasant Funeral and Cremation Service, 168 Academy Ave., Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Adalberts Church, 866 Atwells Ave., Providence. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Arrangements by SUPINSKI and BORRELLI Funeral Home.
